Transition Phrases

I’ve chosen 2 of my favourite sentence structures from our list of 30+ transition phrases actually used by native speakers.

“Let me…”
If you’re not confident with using varied phrases, start with this one!
It’s simple, hard to mess up, and SO common among native speakers.

  • Let me pull up Jira.

  • Let me show you the logs.

  • Let me restart the server and see if it triggers the same error.

Try it yourself! Just use “Let me” + any base verb (infinitive without “to”) + object/detail

“Before we get..., I’ll briefly…”
Use this to effectively structure your presentation and let your audience know what you will cover next, after a short summary of something else.

  • Before we get technical, I’ll briefly explain the business context.

  • Before we get into the architecture, I’ll briefly walk through the user requirements.

  • Before we get to the backlog, I’ll briefly recap this sprint’s goal.
